Lunchtime Quiz Making Teamwork Fun
How do you engage with and connect with students who may not be sporty, have a small group of friends, or feel like they are on the outside? Andrew Kieselbach, PCW at Banksia Park International High School along with teacher Sally Johannes thought they would give a lunchtime trivia quiz a go. Four years on - 100 students and 15 teachers roll up each week during the winter months to test their knowledge.
Year 10 student Erica enjoys the lunchtime trivia “It is something social to do rather than just sitting around at lunchtime. It can be a bit of a challenge – it teaches you skills like teamwork and working together. It’s good fun.”
Ashley Fowler, Leader of Student Services says it’s good for students to have an activity where they can have some fun and work as a team. “It also provides an opportunity for the students to work with teachers in an informal manner, build the relationships they have, and opportunities for positive role modelling. Andrew is a fantastic member of the school community. He manages this program and without him, it would be difficult to run.”
