Community coming together to support students
Schools Ministry Group loves to hear stories of how individuals, churches, groups and organisations get together to support young people and their school communities. As part of the SMG Conference we celebrate community by recognising some of the contributions that have been made.
This year many communities were nominated for the invaluable work they do, contributing to a better school experience for students. The Year 8 Preparation Day Program was chosen to receive the award - recognising the collaboration and contribution of Schools Ministry Tea Tree Gully, North Eastern School Chaplaincy Inc, local Churches, Beyond Limits, SMG Pastoral Care Workers and Schools from the Tea Tree Gully and Modbury Department for Education Partnerships.
“I think it is really important for our year 7 students to have this day of preparation for year 8. The timing of it is fantastic because being early in term 4, the students are already starting the get anxious, apprehensive and excited. It’s great for them to make connections with students that are going to be at their school next year.” said Deb Pryor, Ardtornish Primary School Principal.
The Celebrating Community Award was sponsored by our When Disaster Strikes partner Beyond Bank.
