A program developed by Schools Ministry Group in partnership with Salisbury Primary School is going to make a impact across a number of schools in South Australia. So much so that it captured the attention of the Children’s Week 2018 Ministerial Awards earning them a Minister for Education award!

Inspired by the Wellbeing Classroom, the ‘Wellbeing Agents’ is a student-led wellbeing team. It enables students to be involved in leading social, emotional and behavioural change in their schools. Students meet together to receive mentoring and training. They then deliver sessions in partnership with the classroom teacher. The Wellbeing Agents advocate for the wellbeing of the classroom as well as its continual enhancement and development each day.

Two students from each home class, in grades 4-7, came together to form a leadership team.

They then started to research, design and deliver wellbeing strategies and concepts in junior primary classrooms.

Imagine if you were given opportunities to create strategies and policies and have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership to hundreds of others (many older than you) all during your primary school years.

How could this impact your future life, work and career? We can’t wait to see the long term impacts of this program.
