Education Team Leader

Full time or Part time 

Position Objective

The purpose of the Education Team Leader is to facilitate the effectiveness, growth, and development of SMGs Education and Wellbeing Programs as a means of fulfilling SMGs mission.

All work by the Education Team Leader will be guided by the Basis of Belief of the Schools Ministry Group, working co-operatively within the spirit of it.

Job Requirements

Reporting to the Education Manager, the primary responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate Education service delivery teams; including recruiting, developing and deployment Contribute to the evaluation and development of content and format for Faith (Christian Options) or Values based seminars, workshops, and presentations
  • Deliver, individually and in teams, professional, high quality seminars and workshops in Primary and High school environments
  • Promote the wider ministry of Schools Ministry Group


Essential Experience

Applicants must be able to demonstrate:
  • Public Speaking
  • Working in an education context 
  • Working with children and young people 
  •  Generating ideas which demonstrate creativity, flair and an adventurous approach to ministry
  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Managing a team and leading successful educational initiatives


Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
  • Relate, communicate and work effectively with children and young people
  • Deliver and facilitate presentations to large groups of people of varying ages, cultures and beliefs
  • Communicate the Christian faith with sensitivity and commitment in Christian and secular environments 
  • Work with and respect people with different beliefs and values
  • Educational practice, schools and the Department for Education
  • Contemporary media tools and their application


Qualifications

Applicants ideally possess 
  • Minimum certificate IV in a relevant education, training, or social services qualification and/or
  • a degree in a relevant field


Personal Faith
Applicants must have: 
  • A personal commitment to the Christian faith and values. Applicants must be able to give adherence to the beliefs held in common by supporting churches, as stated in the Nicene Creed
  • A competent level of Biblical literacy
  • An active and regular involvement in a Christian community


All SMG appointments are subject to the following prior to appointmen
t:
  • Working with Children’s Check to the satisfaction of SMG 
  • Completion or ability to complete a Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect training (Education and Care focus) before commencement of role (SMG conducts this training regularly)
