NEW PARTNERSHIPS - THE WELLBEING CLASSROOM EXPANDS
In late 2014, CareWorks SA, Elizabeth Church of Christ and Northern Communities of Hope (NCOH) approached SMG Community Services with the idea of providing financial and in kind support for the establishment of The Wellbeing Classroom within a class at Swallowcliffe Primary School. Jody Byerley has been appointed as a Wellbeing Classroom Facilitator within an R/1 class, tasked with partnering with Sam Self, the classroom teacher, to foster wellbeing as a daily communal conversation.
The class began in term 1, by introducing the Kimochis® social and emotional learning tools to the class community, including children, parents and supporting churches. On Wednesday 1 April a family learning event was held, and whole families were invited to come to the classroom and experience the social and emotional learning activities that the children had been engaging with, allowing parents to take the learnings and continue to grow their child’s understanding at home.
