Child Protection Statement
Schools Ministry Group - Child Protection
Supporting children, young people and school communities
All children who engage with Schools Ministry Group in any way have a right to feel and be safe. We are committed to the safety and well-being of all children and young people accessing our services and the welfare of the children in our care will always be our first priority. We aim to create a child safe and child friendly environment where all children are valued and feel safe.

SMG takes child protection and safety very seriously. We have policies and procedures that are compliant with obligations under the Children’s Protection Act 1993, and Child Safe Environments. Staff and Volunteers are required to obtain a Working With Children Check relevant history assessment (child related employment screening), adhere to a code of conduct and complete the Responding to Abuse and Neglect Education and Care training.

Supporting children and young people in care
SMG has endorsed the Charter of Rights for Children and Young People in Care. We fully support the terms of this Charter and have appointed Charter Champions to act as a contact, conduit and advocate of the Charter.

The Charter Champions have a strong belief in the rights of children and have embraced the Charter for the benefits it brings to children and young people in alternative care.
