Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pastoral Care Worker (PCW)?

Pastoral Care Worker (PCW), also known as a school chaplain, serves as a positive role model, providing compassionate support within schools and communities. With the backing of the local Christian community, PCWs assist young people and school communities in discovering Purpose, Value, and Hope.

What qualifications do I need to become a Pastoral Care Worker?

Candidates are typically required to have a minimum of a Certificate IV in a relevant field such as Chaplaincy, Youth Work, Mental Health, or Child, Youth, And Family Intervention. Additional qualifications or experience in Education, Counselling, or Community Services may also be considered.

We encourage you to reach out to our Recruitment Team. They will assess your qualifications and provide personalised advice on whether further study is needed to pursue a role as a PCW.

How long does it take to complete the required qualifications?

The duration of the required qualifications can vary. Generally, a Certificate IV can take between 6 to 12 months to complete, depending on the course structure and whether you choose full-time or part-time study options.

Is there a job guarantee after completing the qualifications?

While we cannot guarantee employment, we actively support our candidates in finding job placements within schools.

Can I work while studying for my qualifications?

No, we no longer have this option available.

What is the application process like?

The application process typically consists of these key steps:
