Job Specification
Position Title: Wellbeing Trainer
Location: 2/12 Angus Street, Edwardstown SA
Employment Type: 12-month Maternity Leave Contract – 3 days per week
Reports to: Wellbeing Manager

Position Summary
The Wellbeing Trainer is responsible for the design, delivery, and evaluation of social and emotional training programs, presentations, and resources. These services are delivered to staff, school communities, and professionals, supporting the mental health and wellbeing outcomes of young people and their communities.

About SMG
Supporting School Communities across South Australia
Schools Ministry Group (SMG) provides ongoing pastoral and practical support through chaplaincy, Christian education, and wellbeing services to school communities, in partnership with the combined Christian community and other organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate The Wellbeing Classroom program, including:
    • Inducting and supporting Wellbeing Coaches
    • Liaising with schools, Communities for Children, and other stakeholders
    • Meeting activity targets as per relevant work plans
  • Develop and deliver Kimochi-based training sessions and resources
  • Deliver high-quality professional wellbeing training and coaching
  • Collect and analyse data to support continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with external partners and support the implementation of all SMG wellbeing programs

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering Kimochi programs (essential)
  • Relevant qualifications or significant experience in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Youth Work, or related fields (desirable)

Person Specification
  • Strong facilitation and program delivery skills
  • Experience in developing and delivering wellbeing and social-emotional learning programs
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
  • Understanding of child and family dynamics and environments (essential)
  • Experience working in school or early learning settings (e.g., schools, ELCs, childcare)
  • Ability to develop training content and resources (e.g., PowerPoint, session plans)
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

  • Report concerns, suspicions, or breaches of policy to management
  • Maintain current Working with Children Check and complete regular National Criminal History Record Checks
  • Inform management of any charges or convictions that may present a risk to children or young people

  • Some interstate and regional travel may be required
