Supporting Separated Families

(In-person course on 12-Mar-2025 - 9am to 12am)

Course Description

An overview of the dynamics and choices facing newly separated families with tips on supporting children and families within the school environment.

Course Overview

Relational breakdown and separation impacts families and their communities.  Schools can face the brunt of the emotions and conflicts when separation is new and when child arrangements are being negotiated.  This seminar will look at the common issues facing families and how you can support children and parents in the school context. It will give you a basic understanding of what children and families experience as well as information to demystify the legal process around separation.

While this training is highly valuable for your PCW role, please note that this session contains triggering content for some people. We encourage you to exercise self-care before, during, and after the session.

The trainer will stay back after the session for a short debriefing opportunity. Please also contact your Regional Manager or EAP for support.

An exemption or extension of time to complete this key competency is available in some circumstances. Contact your RM to discuss.
