Position Title: Seminar Presenter 
FTE: Casual

Position reports to: Education Manager

Supporting School Communities across South Australia 

SMG offers ongoing pastoral and practical support through chaplaincy and wellbeing services to school communities in partnership with the combined Christian community and other organisations.

Position Summary:

To support the delivery of high-quality, values-based seminars, workshops, shows and programs that promote social and emotional learning, wellbeing, and personal development across diverse community and educational settings.

 

The duties associated with this position include the following:

  • Delivery of high-quality, values-based seminars, workshops, shows, and programs that promote social and emotional learning, wellbeing, and personal development across diverse community and educational settings
  • Delivery of Christian and values-based seminars, workshops, and programs within educational and care settings (Reception to Year 12)
  • Assist with the preparation, setup, and pack-down of equipment, resources, and materials for each seminar or presentatio
  • Work collaboratively and positively as part of the Wellbeing Education team to ensure effective program delivery
  • Support the creation of social media content, including photography and video recording, where required
  • Travel to regional areas of South Australia as needed to support program deliver
  • Communicate efficiently and promptly with the Education Manager (or their representative) regarding all seminars, including pre-seminar planning, logistics, and post-seminar feedback
  • Learn and rehearse new scripts, program materials, and workshop content as required; ensure thorough preparation for each seminar or presentation
  • Participate in opportunities to promote and share the range of SMG offerings available to support wellbeing in schools and community settings


Qualifications/Experiences

  • Relevant qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work, Early Childhood Education or related fields(desirable) 
  • Relevant experience of performing arts (desirable)  

 

Person Specification

  • Public speaking experience
  • Experience working within a school environment (desirable)
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Generation of ideas which demonstrate creativity, flair and an adventurous approach to ministry
  • Experience working with audio visual equipment (desirable)

Safeguarding Children and Young People

Our organisation takes safeguarding children and young people seriously, and as an employee/volunteer of Schools Ministry Group you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Code of conduct. Which is provided during induction phase of employment.

As a part of your duties and responsibilities, you are also required to:

  • provide a welcoming and safe environment for children and young people
  • promote the safety and wellbeing of children and young people to whom we provide services
  • ensure that your interactions with children and young people are positive and safe
  • provide adequate care and supervision of children and young people in your charge
  • act as a positive role model for children and young people   
  • report any suspicions, concerns, allegations or disclosures of alleged abuse, by personnel as well as external individuals to management
  • report any breaches of policy by other personnel, however minor, to managemen
  • act on and report any incidents of racism as outlined in our Code of Conduct
  • support children and young people to express their culture and enjoy their cultural rights

Conditions of Employment

  • the successful applicant will be subject to a Working with Children Check plus Criminal History Records Check where applicable.
  • Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care full training before commencement (provided by SMG as needed
  • our organisation undertakes several screening processes to ensure the appropriate protection of children in its care. This includes reference checks, identity checks, qualification checks and professional registration checks (where applicable)
  • In addition to the duties outlined above, you are also required to perform such other duties as may be directed by your supervisor or management provided these are within your competency or training.
